Therapy to Understand Your Life and Relationships

About Marlene Zerweck, LMFT

Life has a way of teaching us that being human can be both beautiful and complicated. We all carry stories, experiences, and wounds that shape how we see ourselves, our relationships, and the world around us. Sometimes those experiences leave us feeling anxious, stuck, disconnected, or uncertain about who we are beneath the roles we have learned to play.

My path to becoming a therapist was not simply a career choice—it grew out of a deep curiosity about people, relationships, and the ways our past experiences continue to influence our present lives. Like many of my clients, I have experienced seasons of self-doubt, difficult relationships, loss, and the challenge of finding my own voice. Those experiences taught me that healing rarely comes from being told what to do. Instead, it comes from being truly seen, understood, and accepted.

For more than 20 years, I have had the privilege of sitting with individuals and couples as they navigate life's most difficult moments. I continue to be humbled by the courage it takes to share one's story and trust another person with the parts of themselves they often keep hidden.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in genuine curiosity. I believe symptoms such as anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, and self-criticism often make sense when viewed through the lens of a person's life experiences. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with you?" I find it more helpful to ask, "What happened to you?" and "How did these patterns help you survive?"

Outside of my work, I value quiet moments, meaningful conversations, time with my family, caring for my garden, and the companionship of my dogs. These simple experiences remind me that healing is often found not in perfection, but in connection—to ourselves, to others, and to what matters most.

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, relationship challenges, trauma, emotional abuse, or simply feeling lost in a life that no longer feels authentic, therapy can provide a space to slow down, make sense of your experiences, and move forward with greater clarity and self-trust.

I would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.

Sage Advice

Understanding relationships so you don't lose yourself

In addition to therapy, I created Sage Advice (www.sageadvicecollective.com) as a way to bring insight and education into everyday life ~ because healing doesn't just happen in the therapy room.  It happens in conversations, in awareness, and in the small moments where something finally clicks.

Take the First Step to Healing

And sometimes the first step (and quite possibly the most difficult) is simply allowing yourself to reach for support.  I'll be there on the other end to listen, support, and help you navigate the path forward.
